Bringing Life Back With Every Pulse:

Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)

One of the IDRA projects for 2023/24 was to initiate a community defibrillator installation program. The first step was research, Some of the considerations were around matching hardware requirements against population density and what the funding model would be also timelines to implementation. We also looked at similar size areas with a view to understanding what was the best In Class option, capital cost, ongoing service costs, hardware options, volunteer training, and asset location. As you can see there is a lot that goes into installing one of these machines. We finally went Live with the Defib in April 2024.

We are now identifying other sites within the IDRA catchment area with a view to further deployments.

Our Community AED has been commissioned and is now live and ready for use. It is located on the left hand side of the lobby in the Maples Hotel.

Much thanks to all who assisted in this project, Croke Park Community Fund, Maples House Management, Frank McGuirk, volunteers who have been trained in its use and finally the IDRA committee whose commitment saw this project over the line.
