Frank Flood Bridge

The recent decision by Dublin City Council to name the bridge over the Tolka in the north Dublin suburb of Drumcondra after Frank Flood is to be welcomed. Flood was executed by the British authorities for his part in an ambush that took place in the vicinity of the bridge in January 1921. The bridge, a fine three-arch structure, was built in 1818 to replace an old eight-arch bridge and was never formally named. Henceforth it will be called the Frank Flood Bridge.
